Chest of Drawers

This chest of drawers is another piece of the bedroom set that I am building for my wife and I. It is constructed using walnut as the primary wood and cherry as the secondary wood. The sides are solid walnut panels floating in a walnut frame. I made the top with breadboard ends to minimize the effect of the end grain. The drawers were constructed out of 1/2” plywood using rabbets and glue for support. They also have a floating bottom panel which is made from 1/4” plywood. I rounded it off by using soft close drawer slides for a luxurious feel. I really wanted the soft close slides since we will be using this every single day. On the bottom stretchers I added a soft curve. The entire dresser was finished in my own homemade version of wipe on poly. All in all, I am very pleased with how this simple dresser came together. It is a nice addition to the bedroom set!
